Piano Trio

Three Musical Colleagues who play together whenever they can

RPT AND FRIENDS have performed works by composer/pianist — and Montana native —  Richard Pearson Thomas at Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Columbia University’s St. Paul’s Chapel, California State University at Fullerton, University of Iowa, Pasadena’s Boston Court, and the Louvre in Paris, France.

NAHO TSUTSUI PARRINI, violinist, is a member of American Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Lumos and performs regularly with New York City Ballet, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Oratorio Society of New York, and Albany Symphony Orchestra. As chamber musician, she is a member of Yumi Kurosawa Trio — a group for a Japanese Koto, violin and percussion — Mirror Visions Ensemble, and South Country Concerts Chamber Music Series. Ms. Parrini premiered Mr. Thomas’s Dirty Music, a concerto for Amplified Violin and Cabaret Band, at the Bloomingdale School of Music in New York City where she is on violin faculty.

ALBERTO PARRINI, cellist, is an associate musician with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and a member of American Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. He has toured the world with Mikhail Baryshnikov and the White Oak Dance Project and performed with the New York Philharmonic, Arco Ensemble,, Concertante, Continuum, East Coast Chamber Orchestra, Mark Morris Dance Group, Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Mirror Visions, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Proteus Ensemble. As chamber musician, he is a member of the Salix Piano Trio and performs regularly with Lenape Chamber Ensemble, Lighthouse Chamber Players and Richardson Chamber Players. Alberto teaches cello and chamber music at Princeton University. Mr. Parrini premiered Mr. Thomas’s Landscapes for Cello at Lincoln Center. Together, the trio premiered Mr. Thomas’s piano trio Driving at Night at Columbia University.

RICHARD PEARSON THOMAS, composer and pianist, has had works performed by the Boston Pops, Covent Garden Festival, Houston Grand Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Portland Opera, Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, Banff Centre, Encompass New Opera Theatre, Riverside Opera Ensemble, Skylight Opera Theatre, and Riverside Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir. He’s received an American Composers’ Forum commission for the Alabama Tri-State Orchestra, and commissions from the Great Falls Symphony, Empire State Youth Orchestra, and United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. Chamber music by Mr. Thomas has been performed by Five Boroughs Music Festival, Duo Terlano, Music of the Spheres Society, South Country Concerts and the Mirror Visions Ensemble. He is on faculty at Columbia University Teachers College and has taught at Yale and the University of Central Florida. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Southern California.
